Apple is working on the iOS 27 update scheduled for release next year, with a clear priority on code cleaning and internal feature restructuring, a move aimed at improving battery consumption and system efficiency, according to information from Bloomberg.

Sources describe the changes as similar to what happened with the Snow Leopard update for Mac years ago; efforts focus on removing old code, rewriting some functions, and gradually improving apps to boost performance and system responsiveness.

The anticipated changes will include operational efficiency improvements that may have a tangible impact on battery life, but Apple has not yet decided whether to market these improvements as key features or simply roll them out implicitly to users.

The iOS 27 update is codenamed 'Rave' internally, and will lack major changes to the graphical user interface, unlike the Liquid Glass design introduced in iOS 26, in order to avoid disrupting current user workflows.

Apple believes that ensuring system stability and deep updates is necessary given its intention to expand device categories, including a MacBook Pro with a touchscreen and its first foldable iPhone.

Alongside software updates, the company continues to work on enhancing artificial intelligence capabilities, after repeated delays in launching the advanced version of the Siri voice assistant, with some of these features expected to appear in iOS 27 instead of being limited to the previous generation.
