Samsung announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 the new generation of its smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 9, which comes with improvements in performance, battery, and health and fitness tracking features.

The Galaxy Watch 9 is available in two sizes: 40mm with a 1.34-inch display and 44mm with a 1.47-inch display, both supporting LTE connectivity.

The watch is based on last year's square design introduced with the Watch 8, continuing to use an aluminum frame and Sapphire Crystal glass display.

The new watch is powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor built on 3nm technology, delivering 32% higher CPU performance and 19% improved graphics processing compared to the previous generation.

The watch comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

In terms of battery, the watch gets a capacity increase to 390mAh (40mm version) and 445mAh (44mm version), with clear improvements in battery life over the Galaxy Watch 8.

The new watch is 17% lighter than its predecessor, and Samsung has equipped it with a softer and more comfortable band for daily use.

The display is a Super AMOLED with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits for better clarity in various lighting conditions, with resolutions of 438x438 pixels (40mm) and 480x480 pixels (44mm).

The watch supports MIL-STD-810H durability standards, IP68 water and dust resistance, and can withstand immersion up to 5 meters.

On the health sensor front, the Galaxy Watch 9 includes a full set of sensors:

Samsung BioActive sensor, temperature sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, compass, and ambient light sensor.

The watch also supports Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi 6, and dual-band GPS (L1+L5).

The watch runs on One UI 9 Watch based on Wear OS 7 with 5 years of updates.
