Samsung unveiled its new smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, during the Galaxy Unpacked event, accompanied by a range of improvements focusing on display quality, performance power, and battery life, along with new fitness and health tracking features.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 features an updated design, retaining the titanium frame, crystal back, and three side buttons, with changed color accents on the buttons for a more elegant look.

Number markers have been added as hour indicators around the bezel, while Samsung says the new watch is 12% thinner and 26% lighter than the previous generation, with a strap that is 34% thinner and more flexible for greater comfort during daily use.

Samsung equipped the new watch with an 800 mAh battery, which is 35% larger than the previous generation, making it the longest-lasting among Galaxy watches so far.

The company also enhanced the watch's durability, earning an IP69K dust and water resistance rating, and it supports water resistance up to 100 meters with EN13319 certification for diving equipment.

Samsung collaborates with Mares to provide a more professional diving experience, where the watch can automatically track dive duration, water depth, and temperature when diving is detected.

The watch's screen is round, measuring 1.52 inches, Super AMOLED, with a brightness of up to 5,000 nits, which is 66% higher than the previous generation, and a display resolution of 480x480 pixels.

The watch is powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor built on a 3nm process, the first of its kind in wearables, offering a 32% increase in CPU performance and a 19% improvement in graphics.

The watch includes 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and supports connectivity via LTE, dual-band GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC.

On the health tracking side, the watch includes a set of sensors: accelerometer, altimeter, barometer, compass, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, blood oxygen sensor, and temperature sensor.

The BioActive Sensor enables measurement of body fat percentage, body mass index, and muscle mass.

The Vitals feature adds tracking of vital signs such as blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, and skin temperature during sleep, with alerts when significant changes occur.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 introduces the Fitness Index feature, which evaluates daily activity, heart rate, and VO2 Max, compares your performance with users of the same age group, and then provides personalized training plans and goals for improvement.

The watch runs on One UI 9 Watch based on Wear OS 7, and supports the Raise to Talk feature that activates Gemini by raising your hand and bringing the watch close to your face.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is priced at $699 in the US for the LTE version, available in Titanium Gray and Titanium Silver, and comes with a silicone Marine Band.

Samsung offers additional strap options including the Peakform Band and Trail Band.
