King Abdulaziz University President Dr. Tarif bin Yousef Al-Aama honored the "Red Sea Rovers" team on the occasion of achieving seventh place globally in the finals of the World Underwater Robotics Competition "MATE ROV 2026" in the "PIONEER" category, hosted by Memorial University in Canada, with the participation of 35 universities from various countries around the world, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in the University Council Hall.

The team scored 374.67 points in the official results of the competition, after developing an advanced ROV submarine designed according to an integrated engineering vision, enabling it to perform complex underwater exploration and engineering tasks with high efficiency, through the integration of control systems, sensors, and execution tools, providing stability and accuracy in performance within difficult marine environments.

The project took two years of continuous work within the "Manufacturing Club" of the Deanship of Student Affairs, which provided a stimulating scientific environment to host innovative ideas and refine the applied skills of university students from various disciplines, ultimately leading to the university's representation in one of the most prominent international competitions specialized in marine robotics. The team included students: Ruba Faisal Al-Nashiri, Abdullah Muhammad bin Salman, Ammar Khaled Al-Ahmadi, Imtinan Ayman Al-Halwani, Manar Mahdi Taleb, Youssef Ahmed Baabdullah, Abdul Salam Suleiman Al-Fifi, Raghad Ahmed Al-Saedi, Rahaf Abdulkhaleq Al-Adwani, Al-Mahdi Muhammad Sirfi, Faris Mujahid Al-Bukhari, Abdulaziz Muhammad Al-Harbi, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ammar Abdul Ghani Mallibari.
