Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra as the first foldable phone to carry the Ultra badge in the Fold series, during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London.

The phone represents a new step to target users seeking maximum productivity and an enhanced user experience in the foldable category.

Display

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra comes with a 6.5-inch cover screen with FHD+ resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, while the main foldable screen extends to 8 inches with QXGA+ resolution and a brightness level of up to 3,000 nits, with an anti-reflective layer.

Both screens support Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology and adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, with a pixel density of 422 ppi on the inner screen for sharp display experience.

In response to previous criticisms, Samsung added a new Flex Titanium layer beneath the OLED screen, which helped reduce the crease (wrinkle) and make it less noticeable, in addition to adopting a new magnetic hinge that facilitates opening and closing the device and reduces folding resistance.

Processor and Battery

In terms of performance, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor with 3nm technology, with improved graphite cooling that enhances heat dissipation efficiency. The phone is available in three memory configurations:

12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage

16GB RAM with 1TB storage

Samsung introduced for the first time a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh, along with a dual charging system distributed between two cells to improve efficiency and lifespan. The device supports fast charging at 45W (wired) and 20W (wireless).

Samsung announces Galaxy Z Fold 8 officially with a wider screen and lighter design

The phone excels in its camera system, featuring a 200MP main camera (f/1.7 aperture, 2x optical zoom), a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, along with HDR support, 8K video recording, and APV encoded format for video compression efficiency.

The two front cameras (10MP) support high-resolution photos, selfies, and videos on both the main and cover screens.

The phone runs on One UI 9 based on Android 17, with 7 years of system and security updates.

The device offers extensive AI improvements, including:

The new generation of Galaxy AI with broader app support

My FanCam feature for editing videos after shooting and selecting people in the video

Dual Recording mode for recording video with front and rear cameras simultaneously

Super Steady stabilization mode with horizon-level keeping feature

As for dimensions, the device thickness when folded is 8.9 mm, and its weight reaches 214 grams, making it lighter than most competitors in the market. The phone supports water and dust resistance with IP48 rating.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is available in four colors: Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow, and exclusive Green online.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Price

Prices start from $2,099 for the 12GB RAM with 256GB storage variant, and go up to $2,699 for the higher-end variant.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra offers real improvements in design, performance, display, and camera experience compared to the previous generation, with a focus on reducing the crease prominence, providing a larger battery and faster charging, along with new AI-powered software features.
