The official Iranian news agency "IRNA" reported that the United States launched an attack on the city of Ahvaz in Khuzestan province, located in southwestern Iran on the Arabian Gulf.
IRNA quoted Khuzestan Deputy Governor Valiollah Hayati as making statements about the attack, in which he stated that the United States targeted several sites in the city of Ahvaz.
In a related context, Iranian media also reported three explosions east of Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan province.
No information has been released yet regarding any injuries or loss of life from these attacks.
The Strait of Hormuz region is witnessing security tensions against the backdrop of the war launched by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28, 2026.
Washington and Tehran had signed, last June, a memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire, following Qatari and Pakistani mediation, paving the way for a final agreement to end the war, before US President Donald Trump announced, on July 8 of this month, the termination of the ceasefire due to renewed escalation.
