Viral video of "Iranian Tharallah Legion headquarters burning due to US strikes".. Here's the truth
(CNN) -- Social media accounts circulated a video clip claiming it shows US strikes on the headquarters of the "Tharallah Corps" affiliated with Iran's Revolutionary Guard in Tehran.
The video, which shows a massive fire in a skyscraper, garnered at least one million views across various social platforms, including X, Facebook, and Instagram.
The video was accompanied by misleading comments stating: "Urgent | Unprecedented escalation.. The US military has taken the battle directly to Tehran, targeting the main headquarters of the 'Tharallah' forces affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Reports indicate that the main command facility is currently ablaze. The game of denial of responsibility is over."

CNN's Arabic fact-checking service revealed that the video is old and the narrative attributed to it is misleading, as it is linked to a fire that broke out in a skyscraper in China years ago.
By breaking the video into still frames and using reverse image search, it was found that the frames are related to a fire that occurred on September 16, 2022, when a building in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province in south-central China, caught fire.
CNN had broadcast footage of the same fire at the time, stating that the building houses the headquarters of China Telecom and is 218 meters tall.

Other footage of the fire, taken from a distance from the building, is also available.

The resurgence of the video with misleading narratives coincided with the breakdown of understanding between the United States and Iran.
At a time when Tehran has intensified its attacks on its neighbors in the Gulf region, amid US strikes on Iranian positions.
