Cambridge, SPA:

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated via video conference in the 16th Gulf Research Meeting in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

His Highness delivered a speech at the meeting, affirming that the region is going through a pivotal phase that requires strengthening dialogue and diplomacy, and joint action to face regional and international challenges. He stressed that achieving lasting stability cannot be done through military force, but through sustainable diplomatic solutions that address the roots of crises.

He explained that recent developments have shown the impact of regional tensions on the international arena, and their repercussions on global security, energy markets, and economic growth. He called for directing efforts towards preserving the existing international order and creating the necessary conditions to find political solutions that lead to lasting security and peace, rather than settling for temporary de-escalation.

He pointed out that building a more stable regional system requires commitment to the basic principles stipulated in the United Nations Charter, foremost among them respect for the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, respect for the principles of good neighborliness, ensuring freedom of navigation, and adherence to international law. He affirmed that these principles represent the foundation for any stable regional system.

His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the region possesses great potential enabling it to achieve a more prosperous future, expressing optimism about the possibility of overcoming current challenges. He noted that Saudi Vision 2030 stems from a firm belief that development, innovation, and providing opportunities represent the best way to achieve stability and avoid conflicts.

He said: Investing in this phase requires working to establish a more cooperative and stable regional system based on clear principles, mutual respect, and sustainable agreements that achieve peace, security, and prosperity for all.

At the conclusion of his speech, His Highness highlighted the role played by academic forums, including the Gulf Research Meeting, in deepening understanding and enhancing dialogue, and discussing ideas that contribute to supporting decision-makers and building a more stable, prosperous, and sustainable future for the region and the world.
