The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States - Media and Communication Sector, Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, organized a meeting of the working group tasked with studying the proposal submitted by the People's Republic of China to establish the "Arab-China Exchange Center for Audiovisual Innovation," chaired by Yemen.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Haider Al-Jubouri, and representatives of several Arab countries.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Haider Al-Jubouri said that the meeting is being held within the framework of implementing the media component of the executive program of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum, based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the National Radio and Television Administration of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the field of radio and television.

Platform for audiovisual services

Al-Jubouri explained that the Chinese proposal aims to launch the Arab-China Exchange Center for Audiovisual Innovation to implement the outcomes of the Riyadh Declaration issued by the first Arab-China Summit, and to provide an institutional platform to enhance cooperation between Arab and Chinese media institutions in the fields of content, technology, and audiovisual services, as well as organizing exhibitions, forums, training programs, and exchanging expertise. He added that the initiative includes enhancing cooperation in the fields of digital production, smart TV technology, research and development, human resources training, and encouraging co-production, in addition to supporting the establishment of an integrated platform for audiovisual services. The center is to be registered and operated in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China, with support from the National Radio and Television Administration and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. He noted that the Chinese side had proposed establishing the center during the sixth session of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum on Radio and Television, held in Hangzhou from December 9 to 11, 2023.
