Turkey and Egypt signed a letter of intent for bilateral defense cooperation on Monday.

This came at the conclusion of talks in Ankara between Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler and his Egyptian counterpart Ashraf Salem Zaher, who arrived in Turkey on an official visit.

The two ministers held bilateral talks at the Turkish Ministry of Defense headquarters, followed by delegation-level talks.

At the conclusion of the talks, the ministers signed a letter of intent for defense cooperation between the two countries.

On Sunday, the Egyptian army announced that Defense Minister Ashraf Salem Zaher left for Turkey at the head of a military delegation to hold talks on supporting the prospects of military cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries in many fields.

This came in a statement by the army, without specifying the duration of the visit amid rising Egyptian-Turkish cooperation on various levels.
