Economy / 31 initiatives support economic cooperation between the Kingdom and the US via Trade and Investment Council

RIYADH, Safar 7, 1448 AH corresponding to July 21, 2026 AD, SPA The Saudi-US Trade and Investment Council (TIFA) held its periodic meeting today, in the presence of Abdulaziz bin Omar Al-Sakran, Deputy Governor for International Relations at the General Authority of Foreign Trade and head of the Saudi side, and Bryant Trick, Assistant US Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East and head of the US side. The meeting aimed to follow up on the initiatives of the Council's ninth meeting held last January in Riyadh. The meeting discussed (31) initiatives from both sides; the Kingdom's initiatives totaled (17), while the US initiatives reached (14) across various sectors. These initiatives work to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries by reviewing trade and investment policies and supporting technical dialogue between relevant entities. The Saudi-US Trade and Investment Council, chaired by the Authority, focuses on five main objectives: developing trade and investment policies, facilitating trade and addressing technical and regulatory barriers, supporting cooperation in sanitary and phytosanitary measures and agricultural products, enhancing the protection of intellectual property, and developing digital trade, innovation, and emerging technologies. The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the General Authority for Ports, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the National Center for E-Learning, the National Passenger Security Center at the Presidency of State Security, and the National Center for Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases. It is noteworthy that the General Authority for Foreign Trade works to develop bilateral trade relations through coordination councils and joint government committees, in addition to enabling the Kingdom's non-oil exports to access foreign markets and helping overcome various challenges they face. // End // 18:08 Local Time 0184
