Chelsea Completes Fifth Most Expensive Transfer with Signing of Rogers for €137 Million
English international Morgan Rogers has become the fifth most expensive player in football history, after moving to Chelsea from Aston Villa for £117 million (€137 million), according to British and international media.
Chelsea tied Rogers with a contract extending to 2033, in a deal that is the most expensive in the club's history.
Reuters valued the deal at £117 million, while The Guardian reported that Chelsea concluded the negotiations after weeks of talks, despite interest from other English clubs in signing the player.

Rogers began his career at West Bromwich Albion's academy, before moving to Manchester City in 2019, where he went on loan to Lincoln City, Bournemouth, and Blackpool, then moved permanently to Middlesbrough.
In February 2024, he joined Aston Villa, and quickly established himself as one of the most prominent emerging talents in the English Premier League, joining the England national team and becoming a target for several top clubs, before Chelsea sealed the record deal.
