The National Center for Environmental Compliance conducted its 24th field exercise, named 'Response 24', with the participation of 42 government and private entities, as part of enhancing the environmental emergency response system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The exercise was based on simulating a marine spill scenario of 20,000 barrels of hazardous materials, and included the use of 280 barrels of oil dispersants to deal with the simulated spill.

The exercise saw the participation of more than 500 participants, with over 4,000 meters of rubber and absorbent booms deployed, in addition to mobilizing more than 330 land and marine means to carry out field response operations.

This exercise comes within the framework of ongoing national efforts to raise the level of environmental readiness and develop coordination mechanisms among relevant authorities in facing potential environmental disasters.
