"CENTCOM" announces completion of tenth wave of attacks on Iran

Tehran usually responds by bombing what it says are US military installations and equipment in Arab countries

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday morning the completion of a tenth wave of attacks on Iran.

CENTCOM said, via its account on the US platform "X", that it had completed the tenth wave of strikes on Iran.

These attacks lasted 5 hours since the announcement of their start.

CENTCOM added that US forces targeted Iranian military command centers, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems.

It considered that the aim of the attacks was to "undermine Iran's ability to continue attacking commercial ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz."

According to CENTCOM, commercial shipping traffic through the strait continues, and since the beginning of last May, US forces have helped secure the transit of about 900 commercial ships and the transport of 450 million barrels of crude oil.

For more than a week, Tehran has been launching attacks on what it says are US military installations and equipment in Arab countries, particularly Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, in response to the daily US bombardment of Iran.

US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 the end of the ceasefire stipulated in the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran on June 18.

Trump's announcement came after Iran targeted 3 commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate the passage of ships through the strategic corridor, while Washington demands ensuring freedom and security of navigation in the strait.

The escalation has caused disruption to navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and threatened air traffic and energy supplies, amid intermittent airspace closures and warnings of targeting US facilities and interests outside the Middle East.
