A press report revealed tension in the relationship between German Hansi Flick, Barcelona's head coach, and Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, amid developments at the end of last season.

Spanish journalist specialized in Barcelona news, Gerard Romero, said on Wednesday that Flick has completely lost trust in De Jong, noting that the crisis reached its peak during the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, when Barça were eliminated by Atlético Madrid.

Romero added that Flick wanted to start De Jong in the second leg after the player received medical clearance to play, but the Dutch international refused to avoid taking risks, which caused a dispute between the two parties.

He indicated that De Jong is looking for a way out of Barça, especially since the relationship between him and Flick has become very tense.

It is worth noting that the Blaugrana midfielder suffers from a serious knee injury, which he sustained while playing for the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup, and is considering surgery, but he is delaying a decision as he waits for developments regarding his future.
