Iran has received proposals from mediators aimed at de-escalating tensions with the United States, in order to open the door for renewed diplomatic negotiations.

Reuters reported, citing a senior Iranian official on Monday, that mediators had presented Tehran with a proposal to de-escalate the war with Washington, which calls for a 10-day ceasefire in order to find ways to renew the interim agreement reached by the two sides last month with Pakistani mediation.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that Tehran has received "proposals and ideas." He added that mediators are "actively working to prevent further escalation," but he preferred to avoid going into details at this stage.

In response to a question about reports on ceasefire proposals, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that "Iranian diplomatic efforts are ongoing alongside the response from its armed forces," noting that Iran's "diplomatic apparatus" is also "fully" engaged in fulfilling its responsibilities, according to his words.

Reports indicated that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made attempts during his recent visit to Qatar to revive the diplomatic track.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday evening that the United States remains ready to hold talks with Iran, but added that it "must result in an agreement that Tehran abides by."

For his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran is engaged in a "full-blown war" with the United States, adding "We have to be realistic and accept the natural consequences of this resistance."
