The death toll from the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela last month has risen to 4,829, as search and rescue operations continue for possible survivors under the rubble.

President of the Venezuelan National Assembly Jorge Rodríguez reported that rescue teams are continuing their work three weeks after the two earthquakes, which measured 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude respectively, caused widespread destruction in the coastal state of La Guaira.

Rodríguez revealed that 20,857 affected people are currently staying in shelter camps, most of which lack clean water supplies and effective sanitation systems, noting that the number of injured reached 16,740 people, most of whom have left hospitals after receiving necessary treatment.
