An earthquake of magnitude 5 struck several provinces in southeastern Turkey on Saturday morning, according to a statement by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), but it did not cause any damage or casualties.

The authority's statement noted "no negative reports after the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 5 and occurred at 06:20 (04:20 GMT) in the Battalgazi district of Malatya province, and was felt by residents of Malatya, Elazığ, Adıyaman, Tunceli, and Şanlıurfa provinces."

He added, "Our teams are continuing their work in the field." Turkish Environment and Urban Planning Minister Murat Kurum said, "We have not observed any negative developments, but we are evaluating all reports." It is worth noting that in 2023, a devastating earthquake struck southeastern Turkey, killing over 53,000 people and destroying several cities in the region.
