(CNN)-- Accounts on social media shared a video clip, claiming it showed a US helicopter crash in Iran.

The video gained about 700,000 views on X alone, driven by a misleading description that says: 'The US helicopter that Iran shot down days ago in its territory... America was trying to land there but failed again.'

CNN Arabic's fact-check revealed that the video is old and does not date back to the repercussions of the second round of military escalation between the United States and Iran.

Using reverse image search, we found copies of the video posted on social media last April, when a Turkish army helicopter crashed in Ankara.

At the time, the Anadolu Agency reported, quoting the Turkish Ministry of Defense, that a CH-47 heavy transport helicopter belonging to the Army Aviation Command crashed in the Timli area of Ankara during a training flight.

A ministry statement said: 'A CH-47 heavy transport helicopter belonging to the Army Aviation Command crashed for unknown reasons during a training flight in the Temli area of Ankara. No casualties among our personnel. The cause of the crash will be determined after a detailed investigation.'

The Anadolu Agency reported that 'all five crew members on board were injured and taken to hospital.'

The circulation of the video coincided with Tehran's announcement of targeting US military installations and assets in the region, as Washington continued to launch strikes in various parts of Iran.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei told reporters on Monday that Iran will not implement the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States last month after Washington 'violated' it. Baghaei hinted at the possibility of negotiations.

He added that mediators had presented other proposals to Tehran despite the hostile actions, but declined to give details. Qatar and Pakistan have mediated between Iran and the United States.

Meanwhile, the United States plans to send additional F-16 and F-35 fighter jets from its bases in Europe to the Middle East region, along with additional aerial refueling aircraft, according to a US official on Monday.

While Trump did not completely rule out resorting to a diplomatic solution, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated overnight that the door to return to the negotiating table remains open.
