Monday, July 6, 2026 Khartoum – SPA: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that the number of displaced people in the Kordofan region has increased by more than 87,000 over the past four months as a result of escalating attacks, bringing the total number of displaced to more than 219,000 by the end of June. In a statement issued today, the organization warned of a rapid deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Kordofan region due to escalating violence that has caused large waves of displacement. The organization explained that since the escalation of violence in the region in October 2025, the number of displaced has increased by 65%, rising from about 132,000 in February 2026 to more than 219,000 by the end of June, an increase of 87,000 people in four months.
